Garage Sale

Well, our garage sale is over and the official profit comes to $717.35! It's hard to believe I earned that by cleaning out my closets. And, I have several things left over to sell on EBay and donate to charity.

It was HOT today, and we are worn out. As we were closing shop around 2:00, a big van with 9 people pulled up and everything we had organized ended up being a mess. But, they spent over $20, so I can't complain. At one point, I thought I was going to have to call 911 because two women almost got into a fistfight over some baby clothes. It was really scary. This big Jamaican woman got all over this other lady for trying to buy "her" clothes. Thankfully the other lady eventually backed down and let the Jamaican woman "win", but we truly thought it was going to be a WWF smackdown.

After I had already scheduled my garage sale, I found out that our neighborhood association was hosting a community garage sale on the same day. I believe that it actually helped drive more business to my sale. We had planned on opening at 8:00 this morning, but people were waiting before 7:30, so we got everything out as fast as we could. Most of the business was between 7:30-9:00, but all-in-all I am pleasantly surprised at how much of my stuff sold today!

!!! I can't believe you sold that much! What did you sell? Did you have any items that you sold for a lot of money, or did you sell a LOT of inexpensive items?

I sold a few bigger ticket items including: high chair, baby swing, convertible crib, rocking chair, ball pit, and bouncy/vibrating infant seat. Believe it or not, most of the money came from Grace's clothes. I sold everything from preemie-3T. Her casual clothes were 25-50 cents each, and I individually priced her Sunday dresses for 2-5 dollars each. I sold a few household decorative items, but it's amazing how fast the little stuff adds up!
